FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

Position Overview: 

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the entire facility, acting as the contact for emergency situations that affect Avionic Instrument’s ability to open for business. Additionally, the Facilities Technician will assess and consider daily: the safety of our employees and the security of our assets. This position will coordinate outside contractors or vendors for various services.

Essential Functions: 

  • Acts as the primary contact for all personnel for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs)
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • May act as the project coordinator for all size projects including large scale repair and new facility construction projects
  • Assists with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis
  • Solicits bids and quotes from vendors
  • Monitors and replaces light bulbs in all assigned facilities, as needed
  • Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
  • Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required
  • Hangs pictures and shelving, as needed
  • Dismantles and installs furniture
  • Transports goods or equipment as assigned
  • Performs immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain clean facility
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by manager

Minimum Requirements:

Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors

Self-starter and team player

Must be organized and provide deliverables in support of project plans

Knowledge:

  • Associates degree in project management, certificate in trade school or equivalent work experience related to project management, vendor management, facilities and/or maintenance.
  • Must have basic understanding of how things work (facility-related)

Abilities:

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools
  • Must be able to travel to various work-site locations on demand
  • Working Conditions:
  • Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 20 feet

Selective Solder Operator

Avionic Instruments LLC is an internationally recognized leader in the design, development and manufacture of advanced airborne-qualified power conversion and control equipment.  We currently have an outstanding opportunity for an individual to assume a role as a Selective Solder Operator.

Position Summary

To set up, operate and maintain the efficient operation of the Selective Solder, Wave Solder and In-Line washer. Ensures that the PCB’s are soldered, washed and inspected per IPC standards. Performs all other function and duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Troubleshoot down to component level.
  2. Support production schedule at all times.
  3. Learn and maintain knowledge of as many product lines as possible.
  4. To work strategically with production, engineering, and sales to support high quality

                        products, on-time delivery and 100% customer satisfaction.

  1. Streamline process of building products.
  2. Communicate issues to engineering, production, quality and materials that effect product

                        quality.

  1. Assist in continuous improvement of all Test Fixtures, Benches, and Operations.
  2. Performs daily equipment maintenance prior to set up and operation
  3. Responsible for set-up , operating the Selective and Wave solder machines
  4. Ability to make minimal adjustments to the equipment operating programs as needed
  5. Loads assemblies to basket and follow wash procedures
  6. Complete appropriate documentations on required forms
  7. Operates the equipment in compliance with the procedure and safety regulations

Completion of Training Requirements is targeted between 6 & 12 months.  Rectification (if applicable) is required every two years unless otherwise specified in the course itself

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess basic computer skills
  2. Knowledge on Through Hole technology,  ability to identify Through Hole components like axial and radial components
  3. Must have ability to work flexible hours and overtime as production requires
  4. Must have working knowledge on soldering and ability to recognize solder defects per IPC standard
  5. BS Degree (with certificates) or at least 4 years of work related experience in the field, or 2 year vocational certificate and 2 years’ experience

Authorities:

  1. Enforcement of policies, procedures and work instructions.
  2. Has the authority to report problems according to  Corporate procedures
  3. Has the authority to stop the manufacturing process if any unsafe conditions are presented

Continuous Improvement Manager

Avionic Instruments is seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager in Avenel NJ

 

Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Manager works with Site Leadership by leading continuous improvement activities. Reviews operations and provides solutions to resolve safety/ergonomic, quality, cost, and throughput issues. This role is responsible for deployment of continuous improvement tools, problem solving training, and overall support of plant objectives.

 

            Responsibilities:

  • Leading and facilitating improvement teams across the plant – often multiple teams at one time.
  • Responsible for the successful development and execution of specific OPEX/Lean Manufacturing projects, such as: internal and external Kanban, TPM, SMED, one-piece flow production, constraint management, and workplace organization.
  • Works with Quality and Operations team to find solutions to customer complaints focusing on permanent corrective action
  • Assisting in the development of future state value streams and helping teams prioritize the tasks that need to be accomplished
  • Becoming the “go to person” for all improvement teams and providing support where needed
  • Lead Continuous Improvement deployment (visual controls, process standardization, standard work, GEMBA walks, daily accountability)
  • Ensure capability and sustainability through Lean & CI training.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous improvement experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience leading direct teams is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on a permanent and consistent basis.

            Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Black Belt
  • Electronics understanding
  • Toyota production system experience and certifications
  • Experience in a high mix low volume environment
