Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Overview: 

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing the fundamental electrical schematics that define both new products and product improvements.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities: 

  • Consult w/ Marketing / Sales / Production / Eng management to define product relevant goals of the study
  • Prototype new circuit or circuit variation including designing magnetics and assisting in new PCB design
  • Design project specific test scenarios if required.
  • Conduct a thermal performance analysis of new designs.
  • Generate schematics and parts list for new designs.
  • Review customer specification documents with sales and customer representative to resolve ambiguities and identify anticipated problems
  • Create design white paper/objectives document describing the design approach for the product
  • Finalize unit schematics and parts lists
  • Check printed circuit board artwork layout against schematic and electrical characteristics.
  • Generate specification control drawings for selected, custom or burned-in parts
  • Able to evaluate and analyze existing circuits/designs for electrical performance.  
  • Generate subassembly and acceptance test procedures
  • Train production groups in the test, troubleshooting and repair of new units.
  • Provide source material and consult in developing installation manual and component maintenance manual
  • Provide source material and consult in designing test fixtures and loads
  • Advise production on in-house substitute parts to fill shortages
  • Find, test, and evaluate new parts and / or vendors to replace discontinued parts
  • Conduct Failure Root Cause Analysis for Repair units.
  • Provide source material and consult in developing reports and corrective action service bulletins
  • Provide source material and consult in developing qualification test plan and / or qualification test procedure and Qualification Test report
  • Perform and formally record all testing required by test procedures (ATP and QTP)
  • Able to track and coordinate activities as required for successful completion of engineering projects.
  • Able to identify and manage external dependencies for project completion.
  • Familiar with Project Management software tool(s) and their application to AI2 engineering projects.
  • Familiar with engineering documentation (including schematics, drawings, and parts lists) and their version control to maintain the integrity of engineering configurations throughout the development (via Build Management procedure) and after their release (via Configuration Management).

Basic Requirements:

  • MS degree in electrical engineering with 5 or more years’ experience or equivalently a BS degree in EE with 10 or more year’s relevant experience.
  • Basic skills in ORCAD or equivalent schematic capture software.
  • The ability to execute circuit simulations in PSPICE or similar software.

Configuration Manager

Avionic Instruments have a job opening for a Configuration Manager. In this role the Configuration Manager will report to the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for the configuration management of products through their complete life cycle.

Duties         

  • Performs Document Control functions of Version Control, Naming Convention, Approval Cycle, Traceability, Archiving, Storage, Information Distribution, Publishing, Searching, and overall Content Management.
  • Interfaces with Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to establish technical documentation and determine subject material to be developed for publication.
  • Administers and chairs Change Control Board (CCB) for Data and Configuration.((CHANGE BOARD MTG)
  • Maintain, publish, and disseminate Service Bulletins and Temporary Revisions.
  • Maintains engineering forms and templates for various document types e.g., Qualification Test Procedure and establish Proprietary Markings and Classification, Export Control, distribution statement List
  • Procedure for Control of Process Documentation
  • Responsible for Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process
  • Manages legacy documents and drawings in an onsite physical repository (document vault).
  • Manages security features and assurances for ITAR documents
  • Generates and maintains Product Baseline Records (PBRs ) to ensure traceability and data integrity.
  • Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation templates
  • Release Drawing Packages and Bill of Material in ERP systems
  • Must maintain tractability of drawing packages and BOM from Engineering Development, Qualification to release into Manufacturing to product improvement through product life cycle.

Business Unit Manager

Avionic Instruments LLC currently has an opening for Business Unit Manager. Responsible for business results (Profit and Loss, meeting annual plan and growth in the value for a business).  The scope of this position includes:  leadership of a cross functional business unit team (sales, operations, engineering, quality), new business generation, proposal preparation, bookings (orders), Profit and Loss accountability, developing and maintaining customer relationships, establishing the yearly business plan, overseeing operating activities to ensure good customer service and cost objectives are met, contract negotiation and other duties.

This position focuses heavily on value creation.  The Business Unit Manager focuses on details of value creation, i.e; value based pricing, continual cost improvement, and identifying profitable new business opportunities. Production Associate

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Works from production/assembly instructions, parts lists, wire lists, diagrams, verbal instructions, and notes to assemble, wire and installs a wide variety of components
  • Utilizes a variety of hand tools such as soldering iron, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers and rulers.
  • Requires ability to read, write and perform minor assembly calculations
  • Requires knowledge of soldering techniques, color codes, component identification and understanding of production prints
  • Using insulation, stripping techniques, including manual and machine, strips insulation from wires in accordance with instructional materials.
  • Use the computer to access work instructions, and to access and/or input labor tracking, work in progress tracking, non-conformance tracking, configuration information, and RIP location look-ups.
  • Performs a variety of mechanical assembly functions such as labels, stamping, potting, crimping, fastening, soldering, wire wrap, epoxy application, masking, unmasking, and packing. Press a variety of assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Clean parts using cleaner, sonic cleaner and other mechanical and manual processes.
  • Performs any operations in the line and may be assigned to other duties when production conditions require it.
  • May be asked to perform other duties not outlined in this description

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read assembly instructions, parts list, and related documentation in English.
  • Must be able to understand and record information on routing instructions.
  • Must have working knowledge of soldering techniques, and be able to use wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, and rulers.
  • Must be able to perform basic calculations (I.e. measuring length, turns, size, etc)
  • Must be able to identify color codes to match component identification and have working knowledge of productions prints.
  • Two year experience working in manufacturing company

Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Manager works with Site Leadership by leading continuous improvement activities. Reviews operations and provides solutions to resolve safety/ergonomic, quality, cost, and throughput issues. This role is responsible for deployment of continuous improvement tools, problem solving training, and overall support of plant objectives.

 

            Responsibilities:

  • Leading and facilitating improvement teams across the plant – often multiple teams at one time.
  • Responsible for the successful development and execution of specific OPEX/Lean Manufacturing projects, such as: internal and external Kanban, TPM, SMED, one-piece flow production, constraint management, and workplace organization.
  • Works with Quality and Operations team to find solutions to customer complaints focusing on permanent corrective action
  • Assisting in the development of future state value streams and helping teams prioritize the tasks that need to be accomplished
  • Becoming the “go to person” for all improvement teams and providing support where needed
  • Lead Continuous Improvement deployment (visual controls, process standardization, standard work, GEMBA walks, daily accountability)
  • Ensure capability and sustainability through Lean & CI training.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous improvement experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience leading direct teams is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on a permanent and consistent basis.
